Εγιρα is not a typical shop for Greece. It is tastefully simple with expression and warmth. It displays collections of romantic materials, unique pottery, eclectic art, vintage jewelry, curious glassware, and village clothing. It's mission is to bring together pieces with traditional craftsmanship and a contemporary design. Owners, Marie Louise Edmonson and Stephen Turvey, bring their vision to life piece by piece as they travel the globe to meet the artists personally. From France and England to the hidden villages of Crete, Turkey, and India they share with you the rarest treasures. Every piece comes with a bit of a story behind it.
On my initial tour of the shop, Marie Louise plopped down on her favorite pillows and began to describe how she'd come about them. "I passed a store in Istanbul. There was an old man sitting on them lazily minding his shop. I'd never seen one's like them before. I loved them so much, I bought them right out from under him and along with almost half of his shop!"
There is so much to enjoy at Εγιρα. Spend some time. Ask questions. I promise you'll find something that inspires you!
Εγιρα will unveil seasonal collections and an adjacent tea garden in the coming months. Make it a point to visit. It's not just a shop. It's a place for your soul to run free!
